  • Always carry an emergency kit. 

Having an emergency kit with all your comfort clothes will relieve some of the tension that comes with incontinence in public. Incontinence and public settings don’t go well with each other at all! 

Hence, you need to ensure you have the right incontinence products, including an extra pair of absorbent underwear, a plastic bag, etc.

You don’t necessarily use these items, but having them handy would give you a sense of comfort and go about your work with much less to worry about. 

  • Wear darker coloured clothes

There might be a lot of instances where you might not have your emergency kit or an extra pair of clothes in a work setting. 

In that case, you can always wear dark coloured or black clothes to do your best to hide a visible leak in case all hell does break loose.

  • Make sure you do your pelvic floor exercises.

Whenever you find the time and place at work, you can step aside and perform some pelvic floor exercises. This helps you exercise relatively higher control of your bladder, making it easier to deal with incontinence.

All your need to do is find a resting position and repeatedly clench and unclench your pelvic floor muscles.

  • Keep visiting the bathroom regularly.

Do your part in helping relieve your bladder at regular intervals. Keep visiting the washroom at regular intervals, maybe between meetings, conferences, calls, etc., to relieve yourself of the stress.

  • Stay away from coffee.

If you have incontinence, it is best to stay away from coffee. Coffee, as you know, has copious amounts of caffeine, which can lead to bladder irritation and stimulate urine. 

Many people can’t get to work, or for that matter, through a workday without a massive coffee intake. In this case, it might be okay to consume some coffee but stay away from it as much as you can. 

  • Don’t reduce water intake.

If you look at this from a logical perspective, you wouldn’t have to urinate so much if you didn’t drink too much water. But the human body defies all logic, and not drinking enough water can further irritate your bladder. 

This will, in turn, end up worsening your problem, on top of probable dehydration. Hence, make sure you consume a normal amount of water daily, despite the incontinence.
